Link tasks to clients and projects
A task can reference a project. TimeSentry derives the task's client from that project's upstream company relationship. Select the project instead of typing a client name into the description.
When the active company calls projects Matters or Cases, the task form uses that configured label.
Link a new task- Open the add-task form.
- Search for the project by project or client name.
- Select the correct project.
- Choose an assignee from the available project participants.
- Complete the task fields and save.
Edit the task and choose the new project. Then confirm the assignee, parent task, and dependencies. A company eligible on the old project may not have access to the new one.
Do not move a task merely to change its display grouping when the work still belongs to the original engagement.
Tasks without projectsUse an unlinked task for internal work only when no project is appropriate. An unlinked task will not have a project-derived client and may be less useful in client or project reporting.
Project copies across companiesEach company can hold its own linked project copy. A task belongs to its owning company's project context. Do not assume that editing a task in one workspace edits another company's task.
Troubleshoot a missing projectConfirm the active company and project status. Verify that the project is linked to the intended client and that the assignee is on the project team. For imported projects, check the integration and mapping before creating a duplicate.
