Create, assign, update, and complete tasks
- Confirm the active company.
- Open Tasks.
- Choose the add-task action.
- Enter a clear title and description.
- Select a project when the task belongs to a client engagement.
- Choose an assignee, start date, due date, status, urgency, and importance as needed.
- Save the task.
A task is owned by the active company. The assignee is another company entity, not merely a login. The available assignees can depend on the selected project's company graph and team relationships.
Use urgency and importanceUrgency and importance are separate planning signals. Urgency communicates time pressure, while importance reflects business impact. Use both consistently so filters and prioritization views remain useful.
Available urgency values include low, medium, high, and critical. Do not mark every task critical; reserve it for work that genuinely requires immediate attention.
Create subtasks and dependenciesUse a parent task to break large work into subtasks. Dependencies identify work that must be completed before another task can proceed.
Avoid circular dependencies and keep parent-child relationships aligned with the actual deliverable. The Gantt view uses parent and dependency information when laying out the schedule.
Update a taskOpen the task and change its title, description, project, assignee, dates, status, urgency, importance, parent, or dependencies. If you change the project, recheck the assignee because project access is company-scoped.
Complete a taskSet the task status to Completed when the work is finished. TimeSentry records the completion time. Completed tasks can be hidden from normal planning views while remaining available for history and reporting.
Troubleshoot task accessIf the expected assignee or project is missing, check the active company, project team, and company relationship. If a task assigned to you is not visible, reset filters and review the Assigned To scope.
