Add team members to a project
Confirm the active company and open Org > Projects. The company you want to add must already have an appropriate relationship with the active company, such as employee, contractor, or collaborator.
If the person or organization does not appear, add or connect it under the corresponding Org page first. Use its Relationship Key when it already has a TimeSentry company so you do not create a duplicate entity.
Add the member- Open the project from Org > Projects.
- Open its team or company-access controls.
- Search for the employee, contractor, or collaborator.
- Select the company entity to add.
- Save the change.
TimeSentry adds the member by creating or restoring a linked downstream project for that company. This gives the member a company-scoped project record while keeping the owner's project as the upstream source.
Adding the owner company to its own project is unnecessary and is not permitted.
Project membership versus staffingProject membership establishes access and the linked project relationship. A staffing allocation adds planning data, such as assigned hours, role, or capacity. Adding an allocation does not replace the project relationship, and project membership alone does not create a planned-hours allocation.
Use Org > Staffing when you need to manage capacity and planned work after the team relationship exists.
Remove a team memberRemove the company from the project's team controls when it should no longer participate. Removing a member disconnects its downstream project from the owner's project. Existing historical records are preserved rather than silently reassigned.
Before removal, review pending submissions, approvals, staffing allocations, and external-system mappings. Re-adding the same company can restore the prior linked project instead of creating an unnecessary duplicate.
Troubleshoot a missing memberCheck the active company, the member's relationship type, and your permission to manage the project. If two companies with similar names exist, stop and resolve the duplicate before adding either one.
