Connect Notion and import clients, projects, and contracts

Prepare Notion

Create or identify a Notion integration and obtain its secret token. Share each source database with that integration in Notion. A valid token cannot access a database that has not been shared with it.

Connect TimeSentry
  1. Open Integrations and select Notion.
  2. Enter the Notion API token, which normally begins with secret_.
  3. Save the connection.
  4. Open it in Manage Integrations.

Treat the token as a password. Do not include it in screenshots, tickets, or documentation.

Configure an import

TimeSentry can import clients, projects, and contracts from Notion databases. Select the intended database, inspect its schema, and map Notion properties to the corresponding TimeSentry fields. Relationship properties may require a related database to be accessible as well.

Review the import plan before running it. Begin with a small, representative database or sample where possible. Afterward, compare the created, updated, and skipped results.

Avoid duplicate records

Do not run separate imports against multiple databases containing the same clients or projects without a matching strategy. Keep stable identifiers and relationships intact. If names changed, verify whether TimeSentry will update the mapped record or create a new one.

Troubleshoot access

If a database does not appear or its schema cannot load, confirm it is shared with the exact Notion integration tied to the token. Check nested or related databases separately. Rotate the token if exposed, then reconnect after recording the current mapping configuration.
