Configure email billing and folder mapping
In Settings > Time Entries > Email Billing, review:
- Use Default Email Duration: assigns a standard duration in hours, starting at a minimum increment of 0.1 hour.
- Use Inbox: includes eligible received-mail activity.
- Use Sentbox: includes eligible sent-mail activity.
- Thread Emails for Billing: groups related messages for billing treatment.
- Use Folder Mapping: uses configured mailbox-folder routing.
- Default to Billable: marks new eligible entries billable by default.
A default duration is a convenience, not evidence of actual time. Select an increment permitted by client agreements and billing rules. Review messages that required unusually little or substantial work.
Use threading and folders carefullyThreading can reduce fragmented records but may combine messages spanning different clients or matters. Folder mapping works best when mailbox rules place messages consistently. Test moved, copied, archived, and multi-client threads before relying on automatic routing.
Review the resultConnect the intended mailbox, inspect several captured items, and confirm client, project, date, duration, description, and billable status. Use integration rules when sender, recipient, or subject is a stronger routing signal than a folder.
